Homeschool Science Curriculum Made Easy with Fascinating Education Online

This year I’m looking to create a more independent and organized homeschool schedule that will satisfy my children’s desire to do their work separately while maintaining my sanity. For years, we primarily used a family style of schooling, but they’ve outgrown that a bit and are ready for more independence. However, that creates more work for me, which can be a bit stressful.
So given our transition away from family schooling and towards more independent learning, this was the perfect time to review one of the newest online homeschool science curricula, Fascinating Education.
Dr. Margulies began Fascinating Education with the idea to flip the teaching process by approaching science through the “right brain.” Using simple, colorful illustrations complemented by attached audio files, Dr. Margulies creates an easy way to learn science. Each lesson plan provides a roadmap to help students understand why they are learning each topic and apply that knowledge to their daily lives.

Intro to Chemistry for Middle Schoolers
We chose to give the middle school course, Intro to Chemistry a try and see how a homeschool online science program could benefit our schedule and help transition our current middle schooler to more independent learning. However, this course is also recommended for high school students with little science background and as a pre-course before taking Biology.
There are video lessons, reviews, lesson and review scripts, and online and pdf tests for each course. The lessons are colorful and engaging, perfect for your child whose eyes glaze over at the sight of a textbook-like mine.

What Does a Lesson Look Like?
Once inside your Fascinating Education course, you will see each lesson. For example, for Intro to Chemistry, there are 13 lessons, each with a video lesson, review section, and test.
When you enter a video lesson, Dr. Margulies uses video to explain and teach the topic for that lesson, such as force or the structure of an atom. Next, you’ll find a tab labeled “Review” that asks your child questions relating to the lesson and pauses to let them consider their answer. Then, after answering to themselves, they click the answer button and see if they are correct.
What I really like is that there is a pdf available for both the lesson and the review. I thought this would be boring black and white text, but even it’s colorful and engaging. This is perfect for printing out and have your child read after they’ve watched the lesson. It will be so much easier to understand after hearing the topic discussed in the video, and it would be great to reinforce everything they learned.
From that main lesson page, you can also access the interactive version of the lest; however, you also choose to use a pdf test. You can find the pdf tests from the dropdown members tab in the menu. If desired, you could let your child first do the interactive test to review information available to reinforce their learning and then finish the lesson by taking the pdf test.
